Neighbors concerned after another fire ruled arson in Jeannette
State police fire marshals are now assisting Jeannette police with their investigations of the recent string of arsons.
The most recent fire, the 13th arson in Jeannette over the last several months, happened over the weekend at a house on North Third Street.
“I didn’t really know it was arson until just now,” Paul Callas said. “The flames were shooting out probably at least eight or nine feet. “
Callas and his wife noticed the flames at their neighbor’s house and immediately called 911.
Officials said a couch under the back porch was torched and the flames spread to the house.
The difference with this fire compared to the others is that people were inside the house.
“There were two teenage boys actually in the home at the time of the fire,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Steven Limani said. “Fortunately neither one of them were injured, and from our investigation, neither one of them are responsible for setting the fire.”
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact police.
